Outreach and Service
I am dedicated to making my community a more diverse, inclusive, and anti-racist space. As one of the few BIPOC students in my graduate program (EEB at the University of Minnesota), I have been very involved in the efforts to make EEB a better place. In the Summer of 2020, I along with 12 of my peers published an open letter to the faculty of our department laying out the ways in which EEB needed to change to be more anti-racist. Since then, I have been a member of the IDEAs (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Action) taskforce in EEB and the Cedar Creek Anti-Racism Taskforce at Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve in East Bethel, MN. For the past year, I have served as the inaugural Cedar Creek DEIJ (diversity, equity, inclusivity, and justice) Fellow and have been on the leadership team for the Cedar Creek DEIJ Council.
